The Haves and Have Nots

I am really excited... not because of anything big but something as little as changing the look of my blog. I am truly thankful to God for moving me away from the flower oriented themes. It felt as if I was obsessed with flowers and pink colour, it was just too much.

Nature has always been my favourite subject and as I have said so many times earlier that one day I shall be living close to the blue skies, the lake, birds, sunlight and lots of flowers.

It has been a crazzzzy month.... and I have been officially transformed into a juggler, trying to balance so many different subjects and aspects with my two little hands. And to add spice to all this juggling I have also changed my lifestyle.

This Eid was very special in many respects but the most important part is my all-of- a- sudden health awakening process. Although I have a balanced lifestyle now but there is also a long history of unhealthy eating habits. Somehow, old living patterns which I once preferred are not working for me anymore.
So this Eid when we all got together at my friend’s house, her youngest sister Anzi gave me a precious gift. A gift of ‘Power, Strength & Focus’- ‘power’ to make new choices and leave behind what is not working for me anymore; ‘strength’ to strictly follow those new choices and ‘focus’ on the great results.
Although I was very reluctant in the beginning and I argued with her, but when I sat with myself it all became quite clear. I simply could not allow old living patterns to become my addiction or comfort zone. Whatever will be the result, howsoever it will feel, I shall do what is right.
And bouy! It wasn’t easy... the initial four days were the real game changers. I halved my caffeine intake, there was no sugar, no wheat, no milk and no white rice (which is my true love). It was only protein and tons of vegetables diet- and then my body went into a diet shock.
Diet shock comprises of cold sweating, severe headache, nausea, and near collapsing situation. Drastic carbohydrate, caffeine and sugar withdrawals all have their impact on the body but I was blessed that I was given a quick medical-cum-sugar support within time.
When I was going through those terrifying brief moments I knew that my vegetables will not fail me. So learning from those extreme steps, I am formulating a mixture of old and new. The golden rule of changing to a healthy lifestyle, is taking few small steps at a time. Understand and listen to your body, it will inform you about its requirements, what works for you and what doesn’t.
Controlled carbohydrates, teenie weenie bit of sugar will provide good energy and then slowly move away from them. Although it was a shocking situation but I found my balance in those extreme imbalanced moments.
This is not a temporary phase but I am on my way to fully incorporating this new way for the rest of my life.
This society is becoming obsessed with thin people, so everyone just assumes that we all have to be thin and lean without respecting our physical realities. Girls and ladies are literally starving themselves to remain thin, they don’t have any strength of bones or muscles yet they get on the diet-less diet.
Each one of us is made differently and have different structures, it is very important to understand yourself and your type and also realize the extent to which you should or could go.
No one is saying that being over-weight is okay but you should understand that we all have our limits.
In the end, I once again came to a logical conclusion that only the tried and tested rules work and those 'golden rules' are:
AVOID, PROHIBIT, AND BAN from your life and the lives of your loved ones: all Packaged, all Golden and White coloured food;
Colours are a girl’s best friend (and also a boy’s)- eat all the Red and Green Vegetables;
An Apple a day keeps the Doctor Away- add fruits;
Eat Only what you Can Burn;
Live a Simple but Hard Working life;
Exercise, do Yoga & Walk ... Get Real Sweaty; & above all
Eat, Pray & Love....
