Covid 19 Pakistan

Sometimes a little ray of hope is enough to carry us through the rough times. USA health officials are allowing its citizens to go outside without wearing masks, if they are fully vaccinated. I am extremely grateful to Allah for easing the pressure.

Here I must also commend our government for providing free vaccinations to all Pakistanis. If elders in your family are not vaccinated please do go for their vaccination; the process is quite easy. Just SMS your CNIC number to 1166, within seconds a reply message with your registration details will come.   

With such meagre resources Prime Minister Imran Khan somehow managed to get everyone vaccinated age wise. In the first stage, it was 60 to 70 plus of age individuals, then age group of 50, currently registration is open for 40's age group.  

Senior citizens of 70 years and above, can walk into any officially authorized vaccination centre without the need to have any prior registration.

Two of my family members juts got vaccinated, Allhumd it went perfectly well. No side effects at all. Our vaccination centres are using China’s Sinopharm or Sinovac and thankfully Russia’s sputnik is also available at South City Hospital, Clifton Karachi. Two doses of sputnik cost around USD 70 (Rupees 13000). South city will open anytime its next schedule for vaccine bookings.

Please understand that whether you are opting for govt. vaccines (which is free of cost) or Sputnik it doesn’t make any difference, the quality of both vaccines is excellent.  Just to clear any confusion or fear about the vaccines, in China's Sinopharm & Sinovac vaccines killed viral particles are exposed to the body's immune system without risking a serious disease response. Both Sinopharm & Sinovac can be stored in a standard refrigerator at 2-8 degrees Celsius, making them highly useful for developing countries.

Whereas, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are mRNA vaccines, in which a part of the coronavirus' genetic code is injected in the body to train the immune system to attack and make viral proteins. Moderna's vaccine needs to be stored at -20C and Pfizer's vaccine at -70C (BBC News- Corona Vaccines)

However, be prepared that there is a long waiting list and we all need to be extremely patient.

I am sure every vaccination centre is doing its best to accommodate people but I must say that I am very happy with Liaquat National Hospital’s staff and performance as I had personally experienced it with my family. Being a private hospital they have volunteered to help and their extremely hardworking staff are doing their best.

Everyone is trying their best serve its people in this time of crisis. So please get yourselves vaccinated as soon as your turn comes. And please, please wear well-fitted masks to help yourself and others.

After fighting with an alien cat in my dream, I am awake at 1.30 am. It all is followed by a futile effort of building a sleep pattern of 9.30 pm to 6 am. Alas, not all wishes come true at once. The Telecom Bill That Slipped Through While Pakistan Looked Elsewhere

While we were all mourning the petrol price hikes and drowning in the chaos of inflation, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja quietly tabled the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organisation) (Amendment) Bill 2026. Most of us didn't even notice. The bill amended the 1996 Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-Organization) Act. It redefined certain terms and replaced Section 27A on Right of Way with a new Section 27B.
