Agatha Christie

Unnecessary worries sprout when the basic principles of prudence and common sense are disregarded. May this never happen to anyone of us, Amen!

Past few days have been long and nights were lame, although there was so much to express but sitting in front of 14’’ screen or TV became nauseas and almost unbearable with the only urge to get some decent sleep. So instead of gawking at screen I preferred to shift my focus on books. No philosophical or intellectual wish-wash rather I opted for my personal favourite genre of murder mystery, and there is no better choice then to go for Agatha Christie’s classic “The Mystery of the Blue Train”.

Agatha Christie is synonymous with England. Her quintessential “English” characters offer a charming view of a bygone era when people sat down to tea in the afternoon, tended roses in their gardens and where village life provided all the scandal one could ever want to hear; with glamorous characters, exquisite hotels and expensive trains combined takes one into another world. The richness of the settings in Christie’s novels add to the great enjoyment. Most renowned detectives of her novels are Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple.

Hercule Poirot was so famous among Agatha’s aficionados that when the writer finally decided to eradicate this character in her novel Curtain (published in 1975), Poirot was the only fictional character to be given an obituary on August 6, 1975 in the New York Times stating, "Hercule Poirot is Dead; Famed Belgian Detective". Crime solving abilities of both these characters are par excellance and always a delight to read. Though Agatha belongs to 1930’s but we have to admit that her work is just as modern, fascinating and nail biting as any of her contemporary  counterparts. Her work has been translated into more than a hundred languages and she is the single most popular mystery writer of all time.

So if anyone of you is interested in murder mysteries then this could be your pick.

My love to all…………
