Allhumdolillah! I am at a much better place since my last post with series of lab tests, utlrasounds, a mammogram and some other really scary tests, and a gut wrenching anxiety of results. I am doing well thankfully everything was clear except low iron levels with vitamin d3 deficiency. These deficiencies are now on their way to recovery. It is worth noting that I have been struggling with intense brain and physical fatigue since 2019 but not a single doctor was able to identify my problem. Once somebody is diagnosed with depression or anxiety then every health issue they complain about is looked from the psychological lenses. Nobody asked me to check iron, vitamin b12 or vitamin d3 deficiencies even my mum who is a dermatologist always assured me that I am fine and this weakness is just a phase. It was a phase alright, it engulfed almost 8 years of my life pushed back my career and research ambitions. This is not the case alone with me but there are many people who silentl...
Just as I was sitting down to write today’s post I got an update of my dear friend’s sister Sana having a baby girl. So many hearty congratulations to both Sana and Omer and a most loving welcome to their daughter “Meethi.”
Children are such a joy and blessing to have, a time when new life enters our life patterns. Everyone in the family suddenly wants to be around the tiniest member, sharing the delight together.
Cricket fever is taking its toll on both India and Pakistan and pulses are running high. Even the government has announced a partial holiday for tomorrow; no exams, no university no courts and no work. It appears that an entire country shall come to a standstill for tomorrow’s semi-final.
All the news channels are having debates about the strategies, strengths and weaknesses of both teams. Television is bombarded with cricket, at Geo TV they have called on a panel of both Indian and Pakistani cricket players hosted by Mandira Bedi and Kamran Khan respectively. It might sound shallow on my part but honestly I am watching that discussion mainly for Mandira Bedi, her sari, her hair & her makeup. I seriously admire her, not for her persona but for being the sole female cricket commentator.
Besides Mandira Bedi, of course, I wish Pakistan to win this match not because I want India to loose but mainly due to the reason that Pakistan needs something to celebrate, something to be happy about. This winning at such a huge scale might compensate in some way to the prevailing socio-economic crisis that we as a nation face today.
So let’s have our fingers crossed!
With my love and more…
Sonya. (Day 186)
