Day 401

Yesterday seemed to be the longest and toughest day of my life when I had to drive for straight one and half hour when the actual distance was hardly 25 minutes. One of the commercial areas of Karachi was jam-packed with traffic, nobody knew what happened or what is going to become of us.  I thought that probably it would take me an entire day to reach my destination and return home. However, miracle happened and I not only found my way but also reached for my appointment just in the right time.                 These days I am living quite an energetic life with so much to do that I find 24 hours not enough for my activities. Physical tiredness could be handled easily by the right amount of rest; whereas the mental fatigue caused by disappointments or exaggerated expectations needs other creative outlets.                  Sometimes we need to learn our lessons the hard way, sometimes we need to wake up from our fantasies and face the crude realities. Whatever happens

Queen with 29.99

Image
I think it was the day before yesterday when on Sky News channel they showed a picture of the Queen of England entertaining her royal guests; in the background there was a fire place where instead of real fire the Queen used two-bar electric fire worth £29.99. They said that the Palace is really serious on cost cutting, so much so that the sometimes the Queen doesn’t even switch on the electric heater rather she simply wears another sweater to keep warm.    I mean this stuff is serious, it is February and that too in England. Winter is in its full bloom and the Queen of England is living in such economic conscious state. England was the country which once single-handedly ruled not only us but half of the world and today Her rulers face such economic downfall.  If anyone has watched the William Kate wedding then you would get an idea that Royal family really cut down so much of the costs. The guests of Royal wedding attended the Church in small vans, and it was o

Election Selection

These days fortunately we are in the process of deciding our care taker Prime Minister, many names and recommendations are coming forth in this concern.  I believe this would be the first time in the history of Pakistan that we are actually seeing our democracy alive through out its tenure, which is now transferring its power to a selected group of individuals who would not only look after the elections but shall bestow power to the freshly elected people. For these five years of democracy, we as a nation have paid a very heavy price. Many of our innocent citizens felt prey to terrorism and many have their lost livelihoods because economy has gone from bad to worse.   I believe these five years were the darkest years of our history when bombs have become a synonym to Pakistan. However, the good part is that we learned and we grew, at least I hope so. We now have seen very clearly as to how our choices have effected us and also our next generations. I hope that now w

Day 398

Its one am at night or shall we say in the morning and I am having Gol Gappe (Pani Puri) with my younger brother. I know this sounds crazy but sometimes the only sane thing to do is to get a bit crazy. There is a lot of pending work which I need to complete as soon as possible or else I might get into trouble. You see I am amongst those students who would spend their entire vacations playing and having fun and only two days before school they would suddenly wake up and do their homework. Last week has been quite phenomenal for me, I got to meet so many people whom I haven’t met in years and it feels like a miracle. Plus, I am back into teaching and had the wonderful opportunity to teach at the university where I myself have studied for my business degree.   It was so amazing to meet some of my Professors and the most amazing part is that they remembered and even recognized me amongst hundreds of students.   The energy of education and students could have such a calmin

Mistakes

Image
Many apologies as I am not in a very pleasant mood today, situations which have occurred yesterday are still heavy on my mind. Sometimes people make stupid mistakes and the consequences of those mistakes shall remain with them throughout their lives, not only them but every other person who is with them gets affected. However, sometimes we get really lucky and with the Grace of God and with His Divine intervention, miraculously, everything gets settled in the most peaceful manner. Fortunately I haven’t made any silly mistake but I have recently seen the side-effects of ridiculous actions of others. My uncle once told me that there are two kinds of people, one who learn from their own mistakes and others who learn from the mistakes made by others. The latter ones are the wisest. There are many discussions on several forums about having friendly relations with our neighbouring country India. We are so enthusiastic in this friendship that our channels have started

Experiment with Gratitude

Its almost 12:00 am and way beyond my sleep time but when you decide to do something then you do it. For past few months I am having regular headaches in the evening, I believe that my cervical or sinus could be the obvious reasons. Since I have started to paint I have developed some sort of allergy with paints and I am unable to use my sense of smell properly. So today I thought I should take some steam and green tea. However, I was in no mood of having something as flat as green tea so I got an idea of adding a bit of coffee with tea and honey.   If at any point in your life you decide to take green tea with coffee, then my only advice to you is to be brave because you would taste the strangest of beverage. Nevertheless, it comforted my sinus and satisfied the need to have a different taste. There are moments in life when nothing seems to work and you become shaky in your prayers and faith but this is the time when we need to really go with the flow of life. It is
