Congratulations Imran and Reham...

My Heartiest Congratulations & Prayers for Imran Khan and his wife Reham on their marriage, and to all the couples who tied the knot recently. May you all live in bliss, harmony and prosperity together.

When I wrote my last post on PTI's dharna I had no idea that my next one will be on the marriage of PTI's Chairman Imran Khan with Reham Khan, it was just a matter of days that entire situation has changed dramatically.

When the news started to pour in about Imran Khan’s marriage I was a bit uncomfortable because I didn’t like the way either the media or PTI/ Imran Khan handled the situation. All of a sudden a lady’s picture was splashing on every channel with Indian songs playing in the background. (The concept of playing Indian wedding songs on Pakistani news channels is beyond the reach of my humble thinking.)

And finally after a lot of chaos we saw the grand finale of this event, when the newly wedded couple posed in front of the camera. A sense of relief and sanity prevailed over the confused minds of millions in Pakistan and around the world.

I watched Mr. and Mrs. Khan’s luncheon and first interview after their marriage, and honestly it all seemed quite normal. It was just two matured people who decided to become life partners, to become a strong support system for each other and that’s all about it! No big deal.

I have no idea why everyone is making such a fuss about it, of course the emotional disturbance of many ladies on this wedding is quite obvious but why on earth are men jealous. This just doesn’t make any sense.

Everywhere from TV channels to social media everyone is trying their best to find faults in this marriage. If they couldn’t criticize Imran Khan then their best victim is Reham. God knows from which sources people are investigating and digging up her past and coming with twisted information.

Honestly, this is very cheap and low, and as Muslims we all know that in Quran Allah has shown His extreme dislike and called all acts of slander, gossip and maligning as worst acts committed by any Muslim.

It is wise for all the curious souls to simply accept some truths: Yes, Imran is still very handsome in his 60's. Yes, he is on good terms with his ex-wife. Yes, his ex-wife sent her best wishes for his new marriage. Yes, he re-married at the age of 60. Yes, his new wife is also gorgeous (Masha Allah). Yes, they look absolutely magnificent together. Yes, she has kindheartedly accepted his children (her step-children) and vice versa. Yes, he is a matured guy who proposed her because he thinks that she is a great Mom.

In times when our country is going through challenges, we need to focus all our energies in praying for the safe & prosperous Pakistan rather unnecessarily worrying about others.

With all my best wishes to all the newlyweds.

Sonya Syed (Day 512)
