Vote or Die

Awareness, especially of one’s rights is an alien concept in our society. It seems as if we live a blindfolded life. We are content if our work is done, we are content if we acquire what we want. I have seen at a vocational training institute that only few of their machines are in working condition, the students wait for their turn to use the functioning equipment. Nobody had ever complained to the management that those machines need to be repaired and that more new equipments are required.

Finally, one out of 100 students requested the management about the requisite equipments and the administration looked surprised at such request. The elder administrative officer argued, that what do you need more machines for when you can learn the techniques here and revise at home. However, the next day mechanic was called in and budget has been allocated to buy new equipments.

Moral of the story is that we need to ask for our rights because no one is going to give them to us on silver platter. Now the obvious question is, what would be that fate of person who takes such a bold step because in a society where there is no legal order justice becomes a far-flung concept.

The point is that when you ask for your right it should not appear as if you are going to fight tooth and nail for it. Rather we need to understand the delicacy of the situation and tone down our voice accordingly. But do ask for what is your due. Even with God, who is Omnipresent; who knows all that was before and all that which is going to be; we have to ask/pray for the fulfilment of our wishes. It is only when we pray He manifest our wishes.

Moreover, we need to come out of our “Me or My” zone and think “Us and We”. Somebody said that in next election I will vote X who belongs to Y party because he has promised to give me a permanent job as soon as he gets elected. I asked that person what is going to happen if Y party failed to provide good economy or security of life because they do not have a sound track record. He replied “I don’t care what happens to everybody because I want a job and that’s what only matters to me”.

Unfortunately this mind set is not only limited to this particular person but it is common in everyone belonging to any social class. Nevertheless, I say that even if you do get a job still you will be living in the same country.

Yes, you will have a job or desire fulfilled but what about your security when you go out with your family because that particular party failed to provide the security of life to you and your loved ones.

Yes, you will have your job but when your pay will become insignificant as compared to the prices of grocery or utility bills because that party failed to provide you with stable economy.

So you see even if you want you cannot be alone, one way or the other you will be connected to everybody and you will also feel the collective negative affect.

So be aware of your rights and choose wisely with the power of your vote because it’s not only about you. You either vote or die.

With many blessings……

well said.."Unfortunately this mind set is not only limited to this particular person but it is common in everyone belonging to any social class."

SS. The real problem is to change the mindset of the public who always look towards political personalities to get their problems solved and for jobs etc.

The apparent reason of such mindset is that our public doesn’t even know about their rights that is due to lack of education & awareness.
