Gratitude is the memory of the heart
What a beautiful
day we have in Karachi;
early morning it was bright and shinny with breezy winds, clear skies and the tree
leaves gleamed as the sunlight poured its love on them. Then the clear blue sky
transformed into the most delightful hues of grey. Finally it rained and the
fragrance which emerged from the earth as rain-drops touched it is the wonderful aroma we could ever
experience. It seemed as if the angels are pouring white diamonds from the
heavens.
Irrespective of
who we are or where we are, it is like a reflex action that we run towards window or terrace
to get the glimpse of rain. Fried food, especially pakoras and tea become
natural inclinations in this weather.
(Interestingly as
I was writing this paragraph I looked up on the internet to have an English
alternate word for Pakora. To my sheer surprise Pakora is a recognized word at
the Oxford Online Dictionary and this is truly amazing.)
I wanted to have
pictures of this weather and share with you how I see it all but due to work
couldn’t take up this activity or you can say that I was too lazy to capture
the picturesque scenery all around me.
The children are
first to feel this magnificence of nature and if as adults we too feel the
tingling sensation around our hearts then it is a sure sign that the child
within is still living in us. It is our job that we must always keep this inner
child alive and kicking because it is our spirit, our joy, our friend, our
guide and the doorway to God.
Close your eyes and focus your mind on your heart area. You can
put your right hand over your heart area and focus your mind there. Within few
minutes of this focus on the heart you will get a tingling feeling around your
heart, or feel a wave of joy rush through your body. Your eyes may fill tears
or you may get goose bumps.* When you feel this
then know that you have reached the depth of your being, you have reached your
soul.
I do this
practice million times in the day especially when I am saying Thank You to God
for all His blessings. This is actually, how you can easily feel and say
gratitude from your heart. You can also imagine that the words Thank You are
coming out of your heart rather than your mind as you say them. When I practice
this all my worries, stress and exhaustion fly away.
So in the beauty
of the rains, I take your leave..
Love.
Sonya. (Day 292)
