My Two Cents

Allhumdolillah! I am at a much better place since my last post with series of lab tests, utlrasounds, a mammogram and some other really scary tests, and a gut wrenching anxiety of results. I am doing well thankfully everything was clear except low iron levels with vitamin d3 deficiency. These deficiencies are now on their way to recovery. It is worth noting that I have been struggling with intense brain and physical fatigue since 2019 but not a single doctor was able to identify my problem. Once somebody is diagnosed with depression or anxiety then every health issue they complain about is looked from the psychological lenses. Nobody asked me to check iron, vitamin b12 or vitamin d3 deficiencies even my mum who is a dermatologist always assured me that I am fine and this weakness is just a phase.   It was a phase alright, it engulfed almost 8 years of my life pushed back my career and research ambitions.  This is not the case alone with me but there are many people who silentl...

Acupressure for Beginners

For quite some time I have been receiving your emails asking me to give details about acupressure, a healing method that I profusely promote in my blog. So today having some good time on my hand I thought to share a few things about this mode of healing.                 Acupressure, acupuncture, chiropractic or reiki, etc, are amongst 100 healing methods popularly known as Alternative/ Complimentary Medicine. The reason for naming them alternative is because they are an alternate to Western medicine, and these methods also compliment the medical procedures.  Western medicine might try to tackle your illness or pain symptomatically with prescription medication or in severe cases with surgery, while alternative medicine emphasizes less invasive and more holistic treatments. Rather than solely concentrating...

City of Lights

Anger, despair & deepest sadness on the bombings of the residential area at Abbas Town Karachi. There are no words which can ever truly express the pain and anguish which we all have felt on this sad occasion. Living in this city has always been a challenge irrespective of which sect or community you belong. However, the deaths which we have seen in the recent past are a total new experience for all of us. For the first time in my life I feel scared to even go out of my house.  The city of lights has turned into a city of graves and our elites, our rulers are busy in having engagement parties in the public–owned avenues and at the expense of our money and our blood. If we did not wake up now then we might never be alive.  Sonya Syed. (Day 402)

Day 401

Yesterday seemed to be the longest and toughest day of my life when I had to drive for straight one and half hour when the actual distance was hardly 25 minutes. One of the commercial areas of Karachi was jam-packed with traffic, nobody knew what happened or what is going to become of us.  I thought that probably it would take me an entire day to reach my destination and return home. However, miracle happened and I not only found my way but also reached for my appointment just in the right time.                 These days I am living quite an energetic life with so much to do that I find 24 hours not enough for my activities. Physical tiredness could be handled easily by the right amount of rest; whereas the mental fatigue caused by disappointments or exaggerated expectations needs other creative outlets.               ...

Queen with 29.99

I think it was the day before yesterday when on Sky News channel they showed a picture of the Queen of England entertaining her royal guests; in the background there was a fire place where instead of real fire the Queen used two-bar electric fire worth £29.99. They said that the Palace is really serious on cost cutting, so much so that the sometimes the Queen doesn’t even switch on the electric heater rather she simply wears another sweater to keep warm.    I mean this stuff is serious, it is February and that too in England. Winter is in its full bloom and the Queen of England is living in such economic conscious state. England was the country which once single-handedly ruled not only us but half of the world and today Her rulers face such economic downfall.  If anyone has watched the William Kate wedding then you would get an idea that Royal family really cut down so much of the costs. The guests of Royal wedding attended the Church in small vans...

Election Selection

These days fortunately we are in the process of deciding our care taker Prime Minister, many names and recommendations are coming forth in this concern.  I believe this would be the first time in the history of Pakistan that we are actually seeing our democracy alive through out its tenure, which is now transferring its power to a selected group of individuals who would not only look after the elections but shall bestow power to the freshly elected people. For these five years of democracy, we as a nation have paid a very heavy price. Many of our innocent citizens felt prey to terrorism and many have their lost livelihoods because economy has gone from bad to worse.   I believe these five years were the darkest years of our history when bombs have become a synonym to Pakistan. However, the good part is that we learned and we grew, at least I hope so. We now have seen very clearly as to how our choices have effected us and also our next generations. I hope t...
